Рубрика: General news Източник: Could it be that the IOC's Working Group forgot this when deciding to kick Sofia bid out of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games race? Definitely not! Did Ivan Slavkov's sleaze scandals and fears of improper management of resources make Lausanne forget all about Bulgaria's assets? Partly so, but not necessarily (think about sentenced South Korean Kim Un-yong or sunny Sochi!). Was it poor infrastructure, planning and lobbying to blame? Certainly so! The verdict in Lausanne was expected, despite the juicy offer of the capital Sofia, the winter resorts of Bansko and Borovets and Bulgarian officials' assurances that we stand a great chance. But not because "Bulgaria's state is dead", as declared by Sofia mayor Boyko Borissov. Rather because of the vicious local practice to weigh performance in terms of quality, not quantity. Jacques Rogge was more than clear - it's about quality, not quantity. Shall we manage to remember his words till the next Olympic bidding?
