Bulgaria hotel market welcomes new local chain

Local businessman Stefan Sharlopov plans to merge all of his hotel assets and guest houses into a new hotel chain under the brand Sharlopov Hotels.

At the moment, the chain comprises nine local hotels. It will start branching out abroad by the end of 2007 and throughout 2008.

The latest addition to the chain will be the five-star Pirin hotel due to open later this week in Sandanski, South-western Bulgaria. The 76-room and 8-suite hotel is part of a larger complex that also includes ten houses with a total of 57 apartments, six conference rooms and a business center.

The Sharlopov Hotels chain also includes the Murgavets hotel in ski resort Pamporovo, the Devin hotel in the city of the same name, the Yantra hotel in Veliko Tarnovo and several guest houses in the village of Bozhentsi and in the city of Koprivshtitsa.

Two years ago, Sharlopov's company Royal Holidays invested in the Royal House resort apartment complex in Pamporovo and recently opened a Greek restaurant in Sofia.

The company said there are plans for new domestic investments - in Hissar, Velingrad and Apriltsi, as well as projects in Germany and Greece.(Dnevnik)
