Austria's EVN, the majority owner of the regional electricity distribution companies in Bulgarian cities Plovdiv and Stara Zagora, is interested in investing in waste recycling, gas distribution, water services and the purchase and construction of power stations in Bulgaria, said Stefan Szyszkowitz, chairman of the EVN Bulgaria managing board.

EVN considers as viable investment options the construction of waste recycling plants in Plovdiv and Stara Zagora.
 

The region is largely undiscovered by Americans, though there's much to explore. But Asians and Western Europeans are visiting.When I was a little girl, I used to lie in bed at night, eyes closed, trying to imagine how the room would look if my feet were where my head was. Bansko is without doubt Bulgaria’s number one ski resort and is the longest established of Bulgaria’s three (Borovets and Pamporovo complete the trio). Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 May) and over the past two years, 35 million euros have been invested into the resort to being it bang up-to-date and in comfortable competition with its western European counterparts. So much so that Bansko has recently been voted Europe's most improved ski resort in the first Great Skiing and Snowboarding Guide 2006 Awards.

By the end of the year Bulgaria would launch concession procedures for three port terminals and one airport. The port terminals Varna North, the Vidin central port and the port in Lom would be offered on concession. An airport in Rousse would undergo the same procedure, Transport Minister Petar Moutafchiev said.

Bulgarian real estate investment trust BenchMark Fund Estates said it will build a residential and hotel complex in Kyustendil, Southern Bulgaria, on an 89.1 ha plot it won at an auction organised by the local municipality.

French and Italian companies specialising in congress tourism showed interest in buying Plovdiv International Fair exhibition centre, the fair's executive director Yordan Radev said.

In two years the first technology park in Bulgaria will be a fact. It will lie on 200 ha near the town of Shoumen, northeastern Bulgaria.

The first of the 9 buildings comprising Business Park Varna (BPV) will open in early July, said the park's marketing manager Desislava Maleevska.

Zamperla, the Italian manufacturer of them park rides, plans to build a children's amusement park near Veliko Tarnovo, Northern Bulgaria, said Daniel Panov from municipal company Tsarevgrad Tarnov which is involved in the project.
