Thousands of Fans Welcome Deep Purple

The musicians arrived at 3 a.m. because they wanted to spend the day at the beach, said mayor of Kavarna Tsonko Tzonev. He welcomed the legendary band at Varna airport. The day before Deep Purple played in Skopje. Four thousand tickets were sold for the concert in Macedonia.

Tourist Flow to Bulgaria Goes Up
Category: TourismThe number of tourists visiting Bulgaria has increased by 5.6% in the first six months of the year.
Over June alone the growth rate was 11.5%, the International Committee on Tourism informed.
Tourists from Greece, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Germany, UK and Turkey have been the keenest to visit the country, statistics show.

Record Growth for Bulgaria's Ski Resorts
Category: General newsBulgarias winter resorts registered the highest growth of all ski destinations in the world during the 2004-2005 season, reports the British operator Crystal Ski.
The growth is up from 2.1% to 2.8%. The low prices of the Bulgarian winter resorts attract novice skiers - a positive sign for Bulgaria, states the report.
The global ski market increased by 3.8% in 2004/2005. France ranks first with 36,1% of the market, Austria is 2nd with 20,1 %, followed by Italy - 15,7%, and Andorra - 13,7%. -
Tourists Throng in Bulgaria’s Balchik Palace

3 new hotels open in Velingrad
Category: TourismThree 4-star hotels were inaugurated in the past month in Velingrad, the Bulgarian spa resort town located 130 km from Sofia in the Western Rhodope mountains. The local municipality has granted 150 building permits in the past 2 months, including 6 for the construction of new hotels. The resort will have one 5-star and 12 4-star hotels next year. Tourist visits are expected to double from the 78,000 bookings made in '04.

Ski Legend Girardelli to Open Sports Centre in Bansko
Category: General newsSki legend Marc Girardelli and the municipality of Bulgaria's mountain resort Bansko will establish a joint venture for the creation of a major sports club in the town.
Nearly EUR 8 M will be invested in "Girardelli Sport Centre". The new sports centre will be constructed on an area of 9 decares.
Bansko deputy mayor Ivaylo Rahov explained that the idea behind the sports centre is to establish an elite school for talented children skiers. In the new sports academy world sports stars will be invited to teach the new talents. -
World-Famous DJs to Shake Bulgarian Seaside

The Metropolis techno movement has invited the musicians to perform July 23 on the Cacao Beach in the Black Sea resort. The party under the motto "Driven to Heaven" will mark the beginning of the "true summer," Metropolis has announced.
The greatest attraction at the event will be the unique electric illumination show. The beach will be illuminated both from above and from below. At a certain point, the sea itself will light up.
The electric lightning will not harm the sea flora and fauna, Metropolis officials promised.
Wink, who has performed in Bulgaria before, will spend a couple of days at the Bulgarian seaside instead of staying in Spain.
